Søren's garden - Clematis vs. Iron Wall Søren    Søren , Jul 24, 2010 5:28 PM. Permalink. log in or join to reply.

When one of my Clematis wilted I decided to investigate the soil and found these suspicious looking tiny yellow eggs.

Yellow Eggs In Soil.

They have a hard shell like a chicken egg and are filled with something looking like egg white.

I made some enquiries and it turns out it's a fertilizer capsule called Osmocote that releases nitrogen and phosphate over several months - not so suspicious after all :)
