Gathered over 20 killer snails in my garden today!!!!!
The Iberian slugs are slightly smaller than the black and red ones. But they never invaded my garden. And I enjoy
them when walking in the woods - I think they are pretty.
But the Iberian slugs came to my garden a few years ago and they eat all my new plants and peas and straberries.
Lucily I have a toad in my garden ( the pond) and toads eat snail eggs so I hope my toad is busy.
Hedgehogs, beetles, ducks and frogs also eat snail eggs and the snails - so maybe I should import a few of those too.
But I found the following on: http://www.self-sufficient.co.uk/Fighting-Slugs.htm
A slightly more expensive method is to use a ring of copper strip around plants, which slugs will not cross. When the slug touches the copper (with its slimy body) a reaction occurs which causes a small electric current to flow similar to the unpleasant reaction of touching a filled tooth with a metal object. This electric shock is not strong enough to kill a slug, but it is sufficient to repel them.
