My Blue Lilac is just about to bloome. Can I cut off some flowers for vases without hindering blooming next year?

I have the feeling, my cutting off flowers the year before last, is the reason I had no flowers last year.

Lilacs  bloom on last year´s new branches.
You cut off the coming flowers.
If you want to cut branches - do a few in middle
of June. But it is better to cut a few branches
at the base of the plant
